We know choosing one country, and one project can be both overwhelming and tricky to navigate, especially when you have a diverse group of students. That’s why we get you involved in everything. So you can step into a world that feels a million miles away from the everyday, and discover new strengths and personal growth. Different people take away their own highlights and significant memories. We make sure your trip is varied, from projects to safari drives, keeping everyone hooked and opening hearts and minds in new ways.
Groups of 13 students, right up to 33, no problem! We manage your trip, catering and simple accommodation with a swimming pool.
If you ask us for an optimum group size, we’d recommend around 25 students, but if you’re overrun with interest (it happens!), then 33-35 is our maximum.

You don’t just travel to Malawi and do a “project”. You are working with us — an NGO pushing boundaries and impacting lives every day. We work with key stakeholders in the community and government to enable lasting and sustainable change that benefits everyone. What you bring, do, and fundraise for has a generational impact, changing lives now, shaping futures and caring for the planet. Let’s get going!
Before you travel, we encourage you to explore the grassroots challenges people face and the impact these have on daily life.
You’ll be making a real impact. Look into solutions, get creative, bring your ideas and questions. We’re all ears.
In Malawi, it’s real life. The groundwork you do in advance will help maximise your time with us and make a real difference to our projects.
Monkton School has partnered with Fisherman’s Rest bi-annually since 2013 – each group has left a legacy of change. Whether you come once or into double digits, you are a part of the real world impact projects are having around Mbame and Fisherman’s Rest Lodge.
“Thank you so much for all the hard work you put in to make everything so successful again; it was a brilliant trip and some very nice emails from parents reflect this. FR is a special place and it is clear the pupils have all very much appreciated what they have seen and done.”
We encourage questions! With large groups and schools, we offer a Q&A evening with parents and family. This soothes nerves and reassures everyone on the trip and watching back home.
